Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies to the Cast Timer app for Android (the "Application"), created by SMARTPOSITIVE EURL (the "Service Provider"). The Application is provided free of charge, without ads, and is intended for use "AS IS".

In short

Cast Timer does not collect, store on any server, or share any personal data. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Everything the Application needs stays on your phone and on your home Wi-Fi network.

What the Application does with information

To stop what is cast to your TV when the allowed time is up, the Application works entirely on your local network:

• Finding your Chromecast. It looks for Chromecast devices on your Wi-Fi network and reads their name and local network address.
• Watching the TV. It regularly asks the chosen Chromecast what is playing (playing, paused or stopped, and the title of the video), to count the time watched.
• Stopping the TV. When the time is up, it stops the current cast and plays a short end screen video, which is sent from your phone directly to the Chromecast over your Wi-Fi.

This information is only exchanged between your phone and your Chromecast. It is never sent to the Service Provider or to anyone else.

What is stored on your phone

The Application saves its settings (time limit, waiting for the end of the episode, reset delay), the chosen Chromecast, and the time watched so far. They are stored only on your phone, and are deleted when you uninstall the Application.

Permissions

• Network and Wi-Fi access: to find and talk to your Chromecast on your local network.
• Notifications: to show the time left while Cast Timer is running.
• Run in the background and ignore battery optimization: so that Cast Timer keeps watching the TV when the screen is off.
• Run at startup: so that Cast Timer starts again after your phone restarts, if monitoring was on.

Location

The Application does not access or collect the location of your device.

Third parties

Since the Application does not collect any data, no data is shared with third parties. The "Rate app" link opens the Google Play Store, which is covered by Google's privacy policy.

Children

The Application is intended for adults, and is used on their own phone. It does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.

Your choices

You can turn monitoring off at any time from the Application or its notification. You can remove all the data the Application stores by uninstalling it.

Security

Communication with the Chromecast is encrypted (TLS). Since the Application does not collect any information, no personal data can be exposed from the Service Provider's side.

Changes

This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. Any change will be published on this page, with a new effective date.
